About Achieve Nurture

Our Team

Vanessa and Anne lead Achieve & Nurture with a shared commitment to holistic, child-centred care. Their combined strengths in therapeutic practice and educational leadership ensure that every child they support is seen, heard and empowered to grow.

Anne James - Student Manager/DSL

With 25 years’ experience supporting children and young people, Anne has worked across mainstream schools, alternative provisions, and the charity sector. She played a key role in establishing and managing an alternative provision, working in close partnership with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams, a wealth of experience she draws upon every day.

A qualified teacher, Anne holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and a postgraduate qualification in dyslexia diagnosis. She is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the provision.

Anne is passionate about creating inclusive, supportive learning environments where every young person can thrive. Her broad educational background, leadership experience, and understanding of SEND provide a strong foundation for creating inclusive, supportive learning environments tailored to individual needs.

Vanessa Gaunt - Therapeutic Manager/DDSL

Vanessa is a highly experienced counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice. With 18 years in the field, including over 15 years working directly with children in a variety of settings, she has collaborated extensively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to support emotional development and wellbeing.

Working from an integrative, trauma-informed model, Vanessa places the child at the heart of her practice while actively involving parents and carers throughout the process. She brings specialist expertise in supporting neurodivergent children and those who have experienced trauma, helping adults to understand behaviour as a reflection of a child’s internal world.

Vanessa’s compassionate, insightful approach empowers young people to feel heard, understood, and supported in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our Offer

Our service provides morning and afternoon sessions of two and a half hours each, delivered over   a 12-week programme. These sessions are offered to primary aged children 5-11 years old.

The sessions are offered both morning and afternoon and can be booked at a minimum of 1 session per week up to a maximum of 5.

Achieve & Nurture provides a warm, calm, and nurturing environment designed to ensure our students feel safe. Our setting includes communal areas to encourage group work and social interaction, quiet, cosy spaces for regulation, areas of play and a sensory room. All of which support diverse needs and foster a sense of security and comfort.

We use a combination of principles based on Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy alongside sensory and therapeutic play to meet children where they are developmentally and emotionally. This approach helps children to recognise, express and manage their emotions while also building positive social connections.  Our skilled staff are trained to foster strong, attuned, and consistent relationships that provide children with a sense of security and trust, essential foundations for emotional growth and learning.

Through bespoke activities, tailored to their unique SEMH and SEND needs, we help each child feel emotionally connected and understood. Our team works with care and intention to ensure that every interaction reinforces the child’s self-worth and capacity to succeed.

We work towards identifying and implementing effective, realistic, individual strategies to promote and achieve positive outcomes for all our students through a child centred approach.

At Achieve & Nurture, we believe that with the right support, every child can thrive.

Sessions are charged at £150.
